MONTESSORI & FOREST SCHOOL LEARNING

Welcome to Green Twigs!

We offer a very nurturing and caring environment brimming with creativity and learning.  Our Nursery embraces the Montessori method of education, blended together with Forest School education and the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

Our sessions run from 9.15am to 12.15pm with the possibility of staying for an additional lunch session until 1.30pm.

We also offer extended days until 3pm, Monday to Friday.

All three and four year olds who attend our setting will receive the government's early years funding.  Please see Fees and terms section for more details.

We also welcome two year old children who are eligible for the government's two year old funding scheme into our setting, according to availability of a place.

“The secret to good learning is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination.”  Maria Montessori

CURRICULUM

CURRICULUM

The ethos behind Green Twigs Nursery encourages children to be free and independently select and choose from a variety of activities.  This enables them to develop their self esteem, promoting their overall personal, social and emotional development and well being.  The children thereby gain the confidence to explore their environment and develop the skills necessary to try the many different activities available to them.

Children are able to move freely between the inside classroom and outside to our garden. They also have the opportunity to access the onsite, enclosed little forest on a daily basis. We operate a key teacher system with all of the teachers observing and helping all of the children.  We follow the individual child’s interests and help to extend and support their learning journey through our observations.

TESTIMONIALS

"Green Twigs Nursery is such a special place and like no other.  Sadly I hadn't found this little gem of a nursery in time for my eldest daughter but when I did,  it made me realise how all nursery's should be, the warmth, the care, the fun and the love that all the amazing staff give to the children makes it such a magical environment.  Monty and Margot have been lucky enough to be part of this place, and they have loved every moment! The special care and the continual support that Katie and her staff give to the children is incomparable, and the children are able to build such special bonds with the teachers, particularly their key workers, in an environment where they are nurtured into confident, happy, amazing little people. I honestly could not say enough wonderful things about this special place, having my children looked after by such brilliant people in such a fun environment with no worries is all I could ask for."

"I couldn’t be more grateful for the time Jim spent in your care at the nursery. He has emerged from it independent, thoughtful and ready to learn about the world. I am positive he is a better human because of it!"

"My daughter Ezzie spent three happy years at Green Twigs Nursery. From her very first day, she loved every minute she spent there. Each and every member of staff showered her with kindness and love, gently encouraging her to learn and develop and discover through fun and creative play. As a mother of three, I have had experience of a number of different nursery and childcarers, and Green Twigs Nursery has by far been the best. It offers such a warm, inspiring and friendly environment for little people to grow in, I could not recommend it more highly. I only wish I had discovered it earlier! Thank you for everything."

“I could not have asked for a more caring and nurturing environment for my boy. The teachers ..... are truly dedicated and go above and beyond in every way. They have helped my son gain confidence and have supported him with his particular speech and language needs. Green Twigs Nursery truly is a special place.”

‘Katie’s nursery was a home away from home for Margaux and Max - a place where I knew they were happy and well looked after, where they could discover the forest with new friends, pick up a paint brush, or cosy up in the reading corner with a book. The warm welcome in the morning was a highlight for all of our days, and the nursery such a happy warm place in our hearts.'

"I think any child who walks through the doors of this nursery is very, very lucky. It is the most gentle, kind and nurturing place. The teachers are truly lovely and believe whole heartedly in the Montessori approach to teaching. I feel like the children can be who ever they need to be here to grow and be happy! I couldn't have asked for a nicer place for my children to start their journeys of independence."

"Deciding which nursery to send my daughter Katie to was a huge decision, who to place your most special person in the care of. I can honestly say from the moment I walked through the doors of Green Twigs Nursery. I knew that this was where I wanted Katie to be. It was full of smiles and warmth and happiness. The children were all engaged in their activities and the teachers engaged guiding and observing when needed. Katie and her team were fantastic at helping my Katie to settle, and reassuring me as a mum!

Katie has flourished ..... and made some amazing bonds. I can’t thank all the staff enough or recommend this setting highly enough."

"Green Twigs Nursery is a very special place and I feel incredibly lucky that my little boy got to spend time with Katie and her wonderful team before starting school. The environment is unique to any other nursery I visited. The forest space makes the experience magical for the children. The special blend of forest school and Montessori allows the children to roam free and just be themselves in a nurturing environment that builds confidence and prepares them for school. I couldn’t recommend Green Twigs Nursery more!”

“Green Twigs Nursery is a magical place of fun, imagination and learning. The minute Aggy walked in she loved it. Green Twigs Nursery set the foundations for her future development; teaching her how to interact with other children, how to be part of a team, and how to love to learn. But more than that Aggy learnt how to be herself, through the support and love of the most brilliant teaching team. She still talks about it now; the experiences she had and the people she met. Her time [there] shaped her view of the world, how she treats new people that she meets now, and encouraged her love and excitement for the world around her.”

"We have been so thrilled with Green Twigs Nursery as a setting for our daughter. She was loved and cared for by the highest standards, explored lots of lovely areas of learning and spent lots of time being able to be herself. We couldn’t have asked for more and it’s been a wonderful first step into nursery and schools for us as a family. The community is kind and our daughters learning was gently guided so well. We wish we could do it all over again!"
